Contactless Lighting Could Be The Answer During A Pandemic

A lighting company in the United Kingdom, BEG Lighting Controls has come up with “contactless light switching” campaign, and this may well be the answer to safe lighting during a pandemic, to reduce human contact, considering the virus can live on surfaces for hours.

BEG Lighting Controls is highlighting the importance of safer ‘contactless light switching’ to electrical contractors and their customers.

This is one of the many innovative things businesses are doing to keep up with ways in which the spread of the virus can be slowed down.

Contactless lighting works with automation motion and occupancy sensors, without having to manually switch on and off light switches.

BEG Lighting has introduced a range of wall-mounted sensors with different features like acoustic sensors, control of HVAC systems, etc.

These product sets a good precedent to providing safe and practical contactless lighting solutions to end users, especially in public spaces such as businesses, schools, universities etc with the aim of keeping staff, customers, and students safe in a hygiene environment.

The company’s spokesperson has said that BEG Lighting Controls are doing as much as they can to raise awareness about contactless light switching to electrical contractors, and to their electrical wholesaler and distributor partners.

“Unlike standard light switches, BEG occupancy sensors activate the lighting as soon as movement is detected, so touching the product is not necessary at all. Likewise, the motion detectors are designed to switch the light on and off automatically by motion detection. There is also the added benefit for organisations during this difficult financial time that occupancy sensors and motion detectors have also been proven to result in making energy savings.”

Here’s to hoping that safer practices with the aim of minimising contact will eventually put an end to the virus.
